Monster Rating: #1 in Premium Class Treadmills. Highest overall score. Scored especially highly in Stability, Warranty, Reliability and Special Features.
Beat out Landice L7 Executive Trainer, Precor 9.55, Bodyguard, Cybex and Star Trac.
Because the Smooth 9.25 X Treadmill is one of the newer Smooth models, it hasn't had the time to garner many reviews. However, it's fairly safe to say that the Smooth 9.25X is Smooth's Commercial Grade treadmill.
Commercial Grade Construction:
What sets it apart from the lesser priced Smooth models is it's superior, premium construction:
- 4-Ply Whisper Weave Treadbelt (4-Ply belts prolong the life of the treadmill and are typically only found in commercial grade treadmills like Landice)
- Double Roller Bearings - Extends life of bearings up to 300%
- Lifetime Warranty (again, usually only found in commercial grade treadmills)
- 1" Thick, Phenolic Laminate Deck (same thickness used in commercial treadmils)
What Makes It Different From the Smooth 9.25 HR?
The 9.25X has all of the same features of the Smooth 9.25HR (3.0 HP motor, extended 62" treadbelt, free wireless heart rate control, etc). However, it also offers several upgrades, most notably:
- 4 ply treadbelt to extend the life of the treadmill (The Smooth 9.25 HR offers a 2-ply treadbelt)
- double roller bearings (as noted above this extends the life of the bearings up to 300%)
One of the stand-out features of the Smooth 9.25X is the Smooth Speaker System with the speakers molded to the console (see console diagram above). You can plug in any audio input including TV or music - a luxury feature when you're working out!
The Only Drawback:
This is a monster commercial-grade treadmill built for a serious workout so it may be more than some people need.
However, if you are a serious trainer and want to invest in a premium treadmill that was built to last a long time, the Smooth 9.25X is a steal right now. It easily competes with other commercial treadmills like Landice and LifeFitness that start in the $4000 range.
